Technology and Integration Readiness

Assess whether systems, APIs, permissions, and operating infrastructure can support the intended automation without fragile workarounds.

Design Around the Real Environment

Technology readiness starts with the systems the organization actually uses, not an ideal future stack. Identify where data originates, where a decision is made, and which systems must receive the result.

Integration constraints are not implementation details to defer. They shape scope, cost, risk, and the right first use case.

How to Apply This in Your Organization

Use technology and integration readiness to make one real implementation decision, not as a theoretical scorecard. Bring together the business owner, the people who perform the work, and the technical or data owners who understand the current constraints.

Start with the next candidate workflow, document the evidence available today, and name the missing condition that must be resolved before the organization commits to a pilot or implementation.

Integration Questions

  • Which systems must exchange information?
  • Are APIs or approved connectors available?
  • Who owns permissions and change approval?
  • What happens if a connected system is unavailable?
  • How will the automation be monitored after launch?

Worked Decision Scenario

An onboarding automation must read a CRM record, create tasks in a project system, and notify the account team. The desired workflow is clear, but the project system requires a security review before its API can be used.

The team identifies that approval as a gating dependency and creates a limited first release that stops before the unavailable connection. The architecture stays aligned with the real environment.

Apply it

Integration Reality Check

List the systems your chosen workflow touches and identify the riskiest connection or permission dependency.
